Das Pizza—Ja Voll!

When I think of German food (which isn’t often), I don’t think of pizza. But now I’ve had to think again having visited the Blue Mountain Brewery.


Known for their home-brewed lager and organic menu, this German restaurant lies tucked away in rural Afton, Virginia, and offers a  “Bratwurst w/Apples and Onions” pie. The bratwurst comes from a nearby local farm and the topping includes caramelized onion, fresh marinara (which makes me homesick for Marin County), and balsamic reduction. Yum in was—and that’s high praise from someone with Italian blood running through his veins.
