Fly the High Dynamic Skies

Tone mapping an image can result in a “halo effect” around the subject. This can usually be fixed by lowering the luminosity in the image. However, sometimes, the effect works and you might decide to ride with it for the same reason you’d chose to use a ringflash. It’s  a subjective decision. Some people love it, others hate it.

In my photo at the top, the effect seems to fly, i.e., it adds emphasis to the man and the kite. Makes an effective illustration for an article on HDR, yes?

Of course, if you don’t like it, simply tell me to go fly a kite.

Kiteboarding anyone?
