Sunday nights are usually quiet on Zoom Street. Tonight was no exception, but it was a different story two blocks away on Palm. A car came racing down Sixth Ave., swung into the street (nearly hitting a pedestrian) side-swiped a parked Volkswagen Jetta, fishtailed and struck a Grand Cherokee on the opposite side. Two birds, one stone. A moment of silence. Then the driver threw it into reverse, wheeled around, and screeched off into the night.

A witness who called the cops said the hit-and-run driver’s junker was spewing steam and dropping parts as it sped away.

I just happened to have a speedlight handy, so I took a few shots.

OK, so it wasn’t Miami Vice, but it sure beats watchin’ reruns.
